Executive Leadership

Ron D’Vari – Executive Chairman

B.Sc, M.Sc, MBA, CFA, Ph.D

Dr. Ron D’Vari is the founder of NewOak Capital LLC and serves as the Executive Chairman for it and its related entities. He is passionate about disciplined value-add data and technology-driven strategies in the private sector. He creates and guides new ventures, manages investment and advises global financial institutions, pension funds, foundations, private capital groups, family offices, government agencies, regulators, sovereign wealth funds and multinational corporations.

Ron is formerly a senior investment executive at BlackRock and served as the global head of structured finance, a member of Investment Strategy Group, and three of its management committees (Fixed Income Business, Alternatives, and New Products). He pioneered BlackRock structured finance and private-label mortgage asset management and advisory business. He has led and played key roles in devising and implementing strategies dealing with some of the largest and most well publicized de-risking and restructuring advisory cases related to the credit crisis. Ron also served on the Editorial Board of Journal of Structured Finance and was the chairman of PRMIA Education Committee and an advisor to chairman. D’Vari has been on the Board of Boston Security Analyst Society and Advisory Board of American Securitization Forum. D’Vari has taught at UCLA, Boston University, and Brandeis and has published in numerous publications. He holds B.S., M.S., Ph.D., and MBA from UCLA, and is a CFA charter holder and has FINRA licenses.

Robert Brodie – Group Managing Director

B. App. Science – Rural Technology

Robert, one of the co-founders of Silkline, has an agribusiness and environmental science background, being a graduate of the University of Queensland in Rural Technology. He has founded several renewable-focused businesses with a strong focus on sustainability and previously worked with global engineering company Kellogg, Brown & Root. More recently he was appointed as the Chief Renewable Technology Officer at NewOak. His areas of expertise include being a global leader in kenaf growing and production systems, green construction materials, biocomposites, sustainable fuels and energy. He is focused on driving the growth of the burgeoning thermal and sound insulation markets in Europe and Asia using natural fibers.

Operations & Management Team

Andy Zhang – Executive Director, Business Development

Andy has strong expertise in renewable energy, hemp cultivation, and both indoor and outdoor production, particularly in renewable energy certificates and their role in driving clean power markets. He understands both the technical and commercial sides of the industry. He also has extensive experience in sustainable farming and has launched several start-ups, giving him practical insight into building and scaling new ventures, organic and biological farming methods that align with Carbon Zero objectives and Carbon Credit verification processes.

Dan Coonan – Executive Director, Operations

B.Eng (Civil), Grad Dip Mgt, RPEng, RPEQ

Dan, one of Silkline’s founding partners, has nearly 40 years of experience in infrastructure, project management, and organizational management across government and private sectors. He has significant experience delivering projects for public infrastructure, urban development, and commercial businesses. Dan has built many large-scale and commercial infrastructure projects and is responsible for overseeing manufacturing facility development and commissioning for Silkline.

Mark Abell – Director, Corporate Services & Sustainability

B.Business, MBA, CPA, FGIA

Mark, another of Silkline’s founding partners, previously worked as a Regional Risk Director for several world-class banks in Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok (including Standard Chartered & Citigroup). During this time in addition to his credit sanctioning role, he developed and implemented market-leading risk policies, including those focused on Environmental Risk & Governance. Earlier in his career, he worked for Deloitte Consulting during which time he completed the CPA program with Deakin University. Mark holds advanced degrees in finance from UTS, is a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia, and additionally holds sustainability qualifications.

William Lam – Country Director Malaysia

William Lam

William focuses on green technology and environmentally friendly projects with expertise in production and marketing of organic fertilizers, biomass fuel, kenaf and palm oil waste processing. He is responsible for sourcing kenaf and other natural fibers from Asia and regionally for Silkline’s operations. William has also built and developed many large-scale projects including resorts, golf courses and other carbon manufacturing facilities. He has developed a strong network in Malaysia and China, fluent in English, Chinese, and Bahasa Malay, dealing with private, senior government and institutional partners throughout Asia.

James Martin – Chief Enterprise Officer & Program Director

James is an executive leader with over 25 years of experience shaping how complex organisations operate and deliver value at scale. He specialises in aligning business strategy, enterprise operating models, governance frameworks, and commercial arrangements to ensure cohesive, end-to-end delivery and predictable outcomes. In his role, James brings clarity and coherence to multi-party environments, enabling organisations to connect strategic intent with operational execution and commercial transactions. James Watson – Chief Agriculture Officer

James is dedicated to solving agricultural challenges, focusing on optimizing crop performance and water/nutrient efficiencies. James is one of Australia’s leading people with in-depth knowledge and practical ability with living fertilization and growing systems. He facilitates innovative and sustainable microbial technologies across agricultural industries and supply chain systems and drives overall improved growth in crop yields quality, soil health and soil carbon enhancement through cropping producers and microbiological enhancement.

Marc Robinson – Strategic Business Advisor

Marc Robinson is a Director of Financial Services at Fortris, a leading financial technology platform. He brings over 22 years of experience in business development, strategy, market expansion, and M&A across traditional finance and fintech sectors. Previously, Marc held senior positions at major financial institutions including Coinbase, BitMEX, and State Bank of India, where he built digital financial services businesses. Earlier in his career, Marc developed trading infrastructure at Lehman Brothers and built Nomura’s Prime Brokerage business, eventually becoming the largest trading desk in Japan. Marc provides strategic guidance to Silkline Capital on business development, financial structuring, and market expansion.

Ts. Noor Azmi Mat Said brings extensive experience in both government policy and commercial operations. He formerly served as CEO of SME Corporation Malaysia and currently serves as Chairman of FRIM Incorporated (Forest Research Institute Malaysia). His background includes engineering experience with ExxonMobil as a refinery process engineer, providing him with hands-on technical knowledge in energy and industrial processes. Ts. Azmi’s network spans government, institutional partners, and private sector relationships across Malaysia and the region, making him invaluable for strategic guidance on business development, policy matters, and stakeholder engagement.

Adam Leow – Property Project Advisor

Adam Leow is the CEO of Mayland Group of Companies/Malaysia Land Properties Sdn Bhd, a major property developer in Malaysia with a Gross Development Value (GDV) exceeding USD 0.7 billion and a land bank of over 500 acres. His extensive experience in property development provides crucial strategic guidance for Silkline Capital’s sustainable property development division, including the SOCAT net zero carbon development in Malaysia and future green development projects. Adam brings deep knowledge of property development processes, government approvals, master planning, and commercial/residential/industrial project execution.

Marc Herzog – Renewable Energy Advisor

Marc Herzog is based in Dubai and leads Tinia Capital Partners – FZCO, an intermediary connecting investors with bankable renewable energy opportunities and commercial real estate projects globally. His expertise spans Commercial Real Estate (CRE) and Renewable Energy (RE) project finance, with particular focus on solar, wind, and biomass projects including Waste-to-Energy and Sustainable Aviation Fuel developments. Marc’s CRE brokerage work includes powered land for data centers across the United States, Europe, and the Middle East, as well as luxury hospitality assets globally. He also brings working knowledge of Real-World-Asset (RWA) tokenization and digital assets, helping evaluate compliant financing and liquidity options at the intersection of traditional and digital markets.
